Clean energy during the daytime, in the evening and at night.

Morning: minimal energy production, high energy needs

At sunrise the solar panels start to produce energy, though not enough to cover the morning energy needs. The sonnenBatterie will bridge the gap with the stored energy from the previous day.

Midday: highest energy production, low energy needs

In the daytime the energy generated from the solar panels is at its peak. But since nobody is home the energy consumption is very low so that most of the generated energy is stored in the sonnenBatterie.

Evening: low energy production, high energy needs

The highest daily energy consumption is in the evening when the solar panels produce little or no energy. The sonnenBatterie will cover the energy need with the energy produced in the daytime.

Intelligent, long-lasting and economical

The sonnenBatterie is a high-tech storage system that has proven itself in thousands of households – every day. The combination of a PV system and a sonnenBatterie will allow you to cover about 75% of your yearly energy requirement with self-produced and clean energy. sonnenFlat

sonnenFlat is the ideal addition to your sonnenBatterie and solar system. sonnenFlat enables you to become independent from conventional retailers and take your energy future into your own hands.

What is sonnenFlat?

It is an energy tariff for sonnenBatterie owners. You receive a guaranteed amount of energy for a low monthly fee and in return some of the energy stored in your sonnenBatterie will be used to assist in the stabilisation of the electricity grid.

How does it work?

The offer is open to customers who install the sonnenBatterie and who have an existing or new solar system. Once you have purchased and installed your sonnenBatterie, you can sign up for one of three sonnenFlat packages on the sonnen website www.sonnen.com.au/en-au/sonnenflat

Your solar and sonnenBatterie system will cover a large portion of your energy consumption but not all. Therefore under a conventional retail bill you will still have energy charges and fixed supply charges to pay. sonnenFlat replaces both these charges with one low monthly fee, saving you money on electricity bills.

Each package requires a suitable capacity solar system installed on the roof of your home. The solar system, the sonnenBatterie and sonnenFlat will combine to provide your energy needs to the consumption allowance. If you exceed the allowance in a 12 month period you will be charged for the excess consumption at a low per kWh energy rate.

The Wilsons annual household consumption is 10,000 kWh. The Wilsons currently pay $0.31372/kWh (incl. GST) which leaves them with an electricity bill of $3,137.20 excluding daily charges.
The solar system of 7.5 kW and the sonnenBatterie eco 8.10 enable them to participate in the sonnenFlat 10, which leaves them with a much reduced energy bill as per the calculation above.
